User Privacy Choices
Effective Date: 03/02/20251. IntroductionAt The 1% ("we," "our," or "us"), we prioritize your privacy and give you control over how your personal data is collected, stored, and used. This User Privacy Choices document provides a detailed breakdown of the privacy settings and options available to you within our mobile application (the "App"). It explains how you can manage your data, adjust permissions, and exercise your rights under relevant privacy laws.2. Managing Your Data Preferences
We provide several options to manage your data effectively:2.1 Personal Information & Account Management
Account Creation: You can use the App without creating an account, in which case all your data remains stored locally on your device. Creating an account allows you to sync data to our cloud storage via Google Firebase.
Updating Personal Information: You can modify your account details, including name, email, and preferences, in the Profile Settings section.
Deleting Your Account: You can permanently delete your account at any time through the Profile Settings. Once deleted, all associated data will be removed from Google Firebase within 24 hours.2.2 Health Data & HealthKit Permissions
Integration with Apple HealthKit: Our App integrates with Apple HealthKit, a secure platform provided by Apple that enables the sharing of health-related data between apps and your iOS device. HealthKit allows us to read and write specific health metrics, including heart rate, sleep data, and workout statistics.
What Happens to Your Health Data? All health-related data remains stored on your device unless you explicitly choose to share it. We do not transmit HealthKit data to third-party services or external databases.
Revoking Permissions: You can control what data our App can access by navigating to your iOS settings:Settings > Privacy & Security > Health > The 1% > Adjust Permissions2.3 Nutrition Data Storage & Offline Access
Custom Nutrition Database: The 1% includes a custom-created nutrition database, which combines information from OpenFoodFacts and other proprietary food data sources.
Local Storage for Offline Access: Unlike traditional nutrition tracking apps that rely on constant internet connectivity, our App stores nutrition data locally on your device using SQLite. This allows you to access and log food entries even when you are offline.
Managing Nutrition Data: You can delete or modify your nutrition logs from within the App at any time.3. Notifications & User Preferences
The 1% provides various types of notifications that can be customized to fit your preferences:
Habit Reminders: Daily reminders to encourage consistency in forming new habits.
Health Notifications: Alerts related to heart rate, workout progress, or recovery based on HealthKit data.
Bodyweight Reminders: Custom notifications to prompt users to log their weight data periodically.3.1 Managing Notifications
Enabling/Disabling Notifications: You can adjust which notifications you receive by visiting the App’s notification settings.
Revoking Notification Permissions: You can disable notifications entirely through your device settings:Settings > Notifications > The 1% > Adjust Preferences4. Data Download & Access Requests
Under privacy laws such as GDPR and CCPA, you have the right to access and download a copy of your personal data stored by The 1%.4.1 Requesting a Copy of Your Data
To ensure security and prevent unauthorized access, downloading your data will require a valid form of identification (e.g., a government-issued ID or equivalent verification).
Users can request their data in a readable format (JSON or CSV) by contacting our support team.
Requests will be processed within 30 days, and users will receive their data via a secure download link.5. Understanding API Data Usage
Our App utilizes Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) to fetch and update information dynamically. An API is a set of rules that allows different software applications to communicate with each other securely.5.1 APIs Used in Our App
OpenFoodFacts API (Potential Future Use): While our current nutrition database is stored locally, we may integrate the OpenFoodFacts API in the future to enhance food data accuracy.
Google Firebase API: Used for authentication and cloud data storage when an account is created.
Mapbox API: Supports location-based features within the App.
Spline API: Enhances graphical elements in the App.6. Data Deletion & Retention6.1 How Long We Retain Your Data
Local Data (On Your Device): Remains until you manually delete it.
